Sing Down the Moon is an amazing book. Wow! It has introduced a lot of the 4th grade curriculum. This is a keep sake book. We will be referring back to it all year. The students will be able to make connections to the book throughout the year. I love the word choice that Scott O'dell uses in this book. I will be using it to help me teach writing lessons. If your child continues to read quality books like this for their pleasure reading then their reading level will go up, & they will become better writers. He brings the book alive with the well written descriptions (visualization), & the figurative language that his uses in the whole book.
